Time to take advantage of this government initiative…….. The Federal Government has announced an extension to the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements (BAC) wage subsidy for new apprentices and trainees who are signed up before September 30th this year. The wage subsidy, which was previously capped at 100,000 places, is now uncapped and applies to all eligible employers who sign up a trainee before September 30th 2021. The subsidy provides up to 50 per cent of the trainees’ gross wages paid for each eligible new or recommencing trainee for a 12-month period from the date of commencement. For those employers that have been astute enough to take advantage of the program already, there is an additional benefit. The scheme no longer expires on the 30 September as originally scheduled. Trainee’s signed post 5 October 2020 will now receive up to 50 per cent of gross wages paid for their full first year, the same as new trainees in this current announcement. Please note that an employer is not eligible to receive BAC when they are in receipt of another wage subsidy such as Supporting Apprentices and Trainees (SAT) or JobKeeper. The incentive is claimable on a quarterly basis and will be paid to you in the form of a deduction from your Future Force invoice, once the funding is received by us. Unfortunately, I should advise that to date the government payment process has been very slow. We are still awaiting payment for the Oct-Dec quarter, which shall be passed on to those companies affected immediately it is received by us. We hope that shall be soon. Trainees are the future stars of our industry. Do your company a favour, and make a saving while ensuring the long-term stability of your company and the industry! If you’d like to take advantage of the BAC funding extension, please feel free to call our office to discuss. We are vetting potential trainee candidates on an ongoing basis. |

Emir Osmanagic, LCL Product Lead, Australia and New ZealandWhen I started my traineeship, I quickly realised that I had a limited understanding of the industry and experience in an office environment. After meeting weekly with my Future Force trainer for the two year period of my traineeship, I was able to learn about the logistics industry efficiently, while maintaining a comfortable pace for me to grasp concepts strongly. Not only have I built skills within my workplace, but also organisational and life skills.
